“Rebuilding the New Kerala”

ICSET 2018 @ a Glance ICT Academy of Kerala's International Conclave on Skills, Engineering & Technology- (ICSET) is aimed at bringing closer the Academia, Industry, Government and connected stake holders at large, to discuss, deliberate and exchange ideas about Skills, Engineering & Technology areas. The conclave stands out as a platform to explore the multiple facets of emerging technologies and recent trends. ICSET comprises panel discussions, speaker sessions and paper presentations on various subjects under a common theme. The programme will be useful for researchers, academicians, Industrialists and practitioners across the globe and pave ways to explore the subject areas in a collaborative environment

ICT Academy of Kerala's International Conclave on Skills, Engineering & Technology- (ICSET) is aimed at bringing closer the Academia, Industry, Government and connected stake holders at large, to discuss, deliberate and exchange ideas about Skills, Engineering & Technology areas which can help to rebuild Kerala after the natural disaster.

The Conference will provide immense opportunities for Corporates, Policy Makers, Academicians, Faculty Members, Research Scholars, Students to understand the various aspects by which the state of Kerala can be rebuilt using the latest engineering, technology & scientific advancements. ICSET 2018 encompasses various technical discussions, group deliberations and experience sharing moments that will help to inspire the people to be an integral part of rebuilding a new Kerala.


“Objectives of the conference”

  • To explore the various possibilities on the “purposeful use of technology” in the rebuilding programme.
  • Showcase the power of collaborative communities that were prevalent during the crisis, as an inspiration for the new generation.
  • To enable participants be aware of opportunities in the Rebuild of new Kerala.
  • To encourage participants to think and apply the technology advancements for the larger interest of our planet.
  • To arrive at thoughtful insights into the governance of the Rebuild Kerala Programme.

About the theme: "Rebuilding the New Kerala"

The unprecedented flood that hit the state of Kerala in 2018 has been devastating in many ways, be it loss of life, property, livelihood of the people or the impact on the economic front in terms of damage to infrastructure like roads, utilities, partial or full destruction of public facilities like schools, hospitals, libraries, government buildings etc., and tremendous impact on the tourism and allied sectors. In terms of area, the floods affected all the districts of the state. It is estimated that over 100,000 households are displaced and approximately Rs 200B worth of financial loss has occurred.

Kerala saw an exceptional display of collaboration, volunteering and urgency amongst individuals and Organisations from different walks of life during in the rescue and relief operations. Youths, Fisher-folks, Non-Govt. entities, Techies, Students etc. formed communities of expertise and worked hand-in-hand with government in coordinating the critical activities involved. The “Rebuilding the New Kerala” programme is conceived on the fundamental tenets of rekindling the same spirit that stood as a unifying factor for Kerala.

We are submitting the third edition of ICSET-2018 to the resilience and unity shown by Kerala in overcoming its biggest devastation of the century. We are putting together a theme “Rebuilding the New Kerala” in alignment with the efforts of Government of Kerala, in building a sustainable and high growth economy. There are issues of Rehabilitation, Reconstruction, and Socio-economic activities across the state and sector specific challenges in education, healthcare and tourism. This will necessitate enablement of our students & youths, with new Skillsets embedded in future technology, to power the next level growth in Kerala.

The conference will attempt to bring together a galore of experts, personalities, startups, educators and academicians to deliberate on these opportunities and potential challenges ahead of us and address it through Science, Engineering & Technology advancements for building a new Kerala.

Paper Presentations

We invite papers from faculty members and research scholars on the above theme which has been divided into sub-themes. The paper presentation will be conducted in two tracks, Track-1 will be on " Rebuilding the New Kerala" based on the sub themes, and Track-2 will be on Technology of your interest.The sub-themes for each tracks of subjects.The papers will be peer reviewed by an expert committee and selected papers will be given an opportunity to present during the conference and those papers will be published in respective journal.The selected and presented papers will be published in ICTAK international Journal COnvergence (ISSN: 2454-5848) Only online submission is allowed. All papers should be submitted through the email id editorial@ictkerala.org. The papers must be submitted in IEEE format only.

Make-a-thon

Kerala Maker League Make-a-thon is a working prototype design contest organized as part of ICT Academy of Kerala’s 3rd International Conclave (ICSET 2018) on Skills, Engineering and Technology and partnered by Kerala Startup Mission. The intent of the Make-a-thon is to select the top 30 teams across various verticals such as Engineering and Environment, Embedded & Connected Systems, Robotics, Assistive Technology, Web/Mobile Apps, Fluids Sciences, AI Bots, Latest Technology Solutions.
